John RhindJohn Rhind 
Chief Executive Officer 

As CEO, John Rhind provides vision and leadership for Energy Safety Canada, the merger of Enform Canada and the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA).

With more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, John has held a variety of successive senior leadership roles primarily focused on oil sands operations.

John retired from Shell Canada in 2015. As the CEO for Albian Sands Energy, John was responsible for integrating Albian into Shell Canada. In his most recent role at Shell, he led the Athabasca Oil Sands Project during which time he provided strategic direction for Shell’s research and development activities. As part of that portfolio, John was actively engaged in regulatory and government affairs. His work involved bridging provincial and Canadian governments at all levels, including regulators and industry to develop critical policies.

John was a member of a small group of senior executives from across the globe accountable for improving Shell’s upstream asset reliability system. He was a member of the Shell Canada Board and Country Management Team, leading several initiatives for advancing workplace culture, diversity strategies, aboriginal relations and inclusion strategies for Canada.

John has close ties to Fort McMurray, having raised his family in the community. His community involvement has included serving on the Board of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). John current sits on the Board of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

Murray ElliottMurray Elliott
President
As President, Murray Elliott will oversee the implementation of the strategic direction and the overall success for the merged organization of Enform Canada and the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA).

Murray was appointed President effective September 1, 2017. Over his 30-year career in the oil and gas industry, Murray has held a variety of progressive leadership roles in oil and gas development and production. Murray joined Shell Canada in 1986. In his most recent role as General Manager, Greater Deep Basin, Murray served as the integrated business leader for the development and production of Shell’s regional oil and gas asset.

Murray has also served as Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development for Shell’s Heavy Oil division and as Crisis Chief of Staff for Shell in Canada. He has held a broad range of asset management, upstream engineering, commercial, strategies, operations and development roles.

Murray’s active leadership in industry associations has included representing Shell on Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers’ (CAPP) Board of Governors, Alberta Executive Policy Group (EPG) and Oil Sands EPG, as well as chairing and participating in Industry-Regulator Committees. As President, Oil Sands Developers Group (OSDG), he led the industry review that later transformed OSDG into the present-day Oil Sands Community Alliance (OSCA). Murray has also served on Enform’s Board of Directors since 2016.

Paula CampkinPaula M.A. Campkin, MBA, CRSP, ICD.D
Vice President, Standards and Industry Initiatives and Chief Safety Officer
As Vice President of Standards and Industry Initiatives and Chief Safety Officer for Enform, Paula provides strategic leadership over the development of safety training and initiatives to reduce injury and illness in the Canadian oil and gas industry.

Prior to joining Enform in 2007, Paula gained valuable experience in the areas of human resources and environmental health and safety working in the oil and gas, construction and utilities sectors.

Paula holds a bachelor degree (BA) in psychology from the University of Calgary and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the Haskayne School of Business. She also holds certificates in occupational health & safety from the University of Alberta and project management from SAIT. Throughout her career, Paula has attained the following professional designations; Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Risk Management (CRM) and Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D).

Paula has served as a Governor on the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) since 2013 and is the outgoing chair of BCRSP professional conduct and enforcement committees. In January 2016, Paula assumed the executive role as Secretary-Treasurer of the BCRSP.

Paula believes that Enform has a crucial role to play in improving safety, not just within individual organizations, but across the entire oil and gas industry.

Carol HowesCarol Howes
Vice President, Communications and PetroLMI
As Vice President of Communications and the PetroLMI division of Enform, Carol is responsible for stakeholder relations, brand and communications management. She is also responsible for providing leadership and strategic oversight in all aspects of management and operation for the PetroLMI division.

Prior to joining Enform, Carol worked as a business journalist; as vice president of a communications consulting firm; as manager of media relations for one of Canada’s largest energy companies; and as vice president of strategic communications for a large, fully-integrated national public affairs firm.

More than 30 years of experience in all aspects of business gives Carol a unique perspective on the workforce issues of the oil and gas industry. Carol currently serves on the board of directors of the Lougheed House as well as Hospice Calgary. 

Among Carol’s main priorities at PetroLMI, is to increase the division’s focus on its mandate. She believes that collaboration with industry, government, educators and training agencies is the best way to support and advance the development of a sustainable, skilled and productive workforce in the upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors.

RickRick Shatosky
Vice President, Finance and Chief Privacy Officer
As Vice President, Finance and Chief Privacy Officer, Rick is responsible for Enform’s accounting, contracts, business analysis and the operation of its Calgary facilities.

Prior to joining Enform in 2003, Rick was a Senior Accountant at Price Waterhouse, then Controller at Indel-Davis Ltd. where his strong analysis skills and leadership resulted in significant cost efficiencies for the organization.

Rick earned his bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified General Accountant. When not attempting to keep up to his four grandsons, Rick enjoys travelling, hiking, cycling and cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
