Resources and Tools
Enform provides a wide range of
safety resources and tools to help prevent the most common injuries
and illnesses in the petroleum industry.
Alcohol & Drugs
This section consists of tools and resources developed by Enform's
Alcohol and Drug Task Force. These electronic resources include
policy models, case summaries, Gap Analysis Matrix, an Alcohol and
Drug Policy template, testing guide, as well as other online
A&D resources that offer useful program advice, statistics, and
more.
Driving
Enform launched a safe driving campaign that targets oil and gas
industry drivers as well as their enablers and influencers
(co-workers, family and friends who will resonate the importance of
this message). The campaign's objective is to educate Alberta's oil
and gas industry drivers, family and friends that it is a decision
to drive safe.
Crossing Borders Report
Enform has available a comprehensive package of information that
summarizes the critical differences among BC, Alberta and
Saskatchewan OH&S legislation, in terms of applicable
jurisdiction, work site, and legal role and responsibilities at the
work site, as of March 31, 2010.
This information package - called Crossing Borders: Is your
company compliant with OH&S legislation in British Columbia,
Alberta and Saskatchewan? - includes a 133-page Report, a 11-page
Executive Summary and four-page Highlights document. Crossing
Borders offers considerable value to oil and gas industry companies
as an important tool to work towards compliance with OH&S
legislation in all three western provinces.
Fatigue
Human fatigue is recognized as being one of the primary causes of
incidents in the petroleum industry. The costs of fatigue and the
resulting incidents are a major human and financial burden to
companies, workers, and their families.
Green Hands for
Green Hands
New or inexperienced workers (green hands) have twice the workplace
injuries of experienced workers. Those under 24 years of age have a
60% chance of being injured in their first six months.
This program helps green hands through their high-risk period by
identifying them with a green hand sticker on their hardhat so more
experienced workers can watch out for them.
Inter-Provincial Workplace First Aid Requirements Planning
Guide
All companies are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate
number of personnel at a particular work site are trained in first
aid. To help oil and gas companies understand these requirements in
an inter-provincial environment in Western Canada, Enform has
developed this planning guide. The guide lists first aid training
requirements, the process for employers to have out-of-province
first aid certificates recognized between BC and Alberta, and
course equivalences being recognized in BC, Alberta and
Saskatchewan. This document has been reviewed and approved by
WorkSafeBC, Saskatchewan Labour and Work Safe Alberta.
Review of Diesel Use in Pressure Wash Guns in the
Upstream Petroleum Industry - (File size: 8 Megs)
The reason for the study is based on industry concerns over the
potential for adverse health effects in workers from the exposure
to diesel fluid and vapours.
