COR
The Three Year SECOR Audit Cycle

Maintaining a SECOR
The SECOR is valid for three years from the date of issue,
providing that all maintenance requirements are met. The date the
audit is completed on-site is used as the SECOR issue date.
To maintain a SECOR, an employer is required to carry out
another self audit within 12 months of the date of the COR, and to
carry out a second self audit within 24 months of the issue date of
the COR. Some SECOR holders prefer to use certified auditors to
carry out their audits but self auditing is always an option for
companies with a SECOR.
Maintenance self audits are subject to the same Quality
Assurance (QA) Review as certification audits. However, since
maintenance audits provide an opportunity for employers to ensure
all aspects of their health and safety management system are being
maintained, there is no requirement that a passing mark be
obtained.
To renew a SECOR, a small employer must undergo another self
audit or external audit for certification purposes. This audit must
be completed and reviewed by Enform prior to the expiration date of
the SECOR. The same standard for a passing mark is required to
renew a SECOR as to acquire a SECOR.
