Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)
Learning Units: 12 (Twelve)
Overview: The Instructional Skills Workshop
(ISW) is the introductory component of the Enform Certified
Instructor Diploma (CID) program. This course, delivered by
professional instructors, is designed to ensure instructors are
conversant with Enform's instructional standards and delivery
methodology, and can demonstrate both instructional and subject
matter competency. This program will remain mandatory for all
Enform Franchise Instructors and will be required by all
participants enrolled in the Enform CID program.
Outcome: The participant will be able to
effectively deliver and manage an Enform training course.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate subject matter competency
- Demonstrate instructional delivery competency
- Apply principles of adult learning theory
- Apply principles of learning domains - cognitive, affective,
and psychomotor
- Demonstrate principles of classroom management
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt content to the needs of both
the student and learning environment
- Demonstrate assessment competency
Note: Franchise Instructors are
authorized to instruct after completing the ISW (including an
instructional audit). However, instructors must continue to
accumulate a minimum of 6 (six) Learning Units per year until a
total of 34 Learning Units are achieved (26 mandatory and 8
optional Learning Units) to obtain CID certification.
Note: Current practicing Enform
Franchise and Contract instructors (instructing Certification
courses) will be partially grandfathered and will be
awarded nine (9) Learning Units. These individuals will be required
to complete the Making Training More Effective (online or
classroom-based) as soon as possible (within one year) and upon
successful assessment will be awarded three (3) Learning Units and
will have completed the requirements for the ISW.
Session Description:
- The session is available through classroom delivery. This
course is three and one half days of instruction, requires the
development of a subject matter presentation, and the demonstration
of instructional skills. Additional requirements are dependent upon
the subject matter and may require the instructor to attend an
additional session (will not exceed one and one half days).
Note: Current Franchise Instructors and those
individuals that have completed the Enform Instructor training
course are NOT required to complete the
Instructional Skills Workshop. These individuals will be
awarded Nine (9) Learning Units for previous Enform training. They
will be required to complete the Making Training More
Effective online course prior to January 1, 2011, to
maintain their standing within the CID Program.
ADDIE (Analysis, Design,
Development, Implementation and Evlauation)
Learning Units: 4 (Four)
Outcome: The participant will be able to apply
the principles of ADDIE the Program Development Model within the
development and delivery of education/training materials.
Objectives:
- Apply analysis techniques
- Apply design techniques
- Apply development techniques
- Apply implementation techniques
- Apply evaluation techniques
Session Description:
- The session is available through e.Learning delivery and may be
available through alternative or blended delivery methods upon
request. This course is eight (8) hours in length and requires
exercises, application of development techniques, and the
evaluation of instructional design materials.
Learning Theory
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able describe
the key ascepts of adult learning theory and how it applies to
adult education and training situations.
- Examine the development of learning theory as it applies to
audlt education and training situations
- Examine how an adult's physical, psychological and mental
charateristics change with age
- Describe what motivates adults to learn how thinking and
learning styles need to be considered in adult learning
situations
- Examine a number of teaching strategies and practices that are
compatible with and supportive of adult learning needs
Session Description:

request. This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the
assessment of an adult learning theory application case study.
Lesson Planning
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to create
a lesson plan for delivering a course.
Objectives:
- Identify the purpose and key elements of a lesson plan
- Determine the lesson plan requirements for different
instructional methods
- Plan a lesson for a specified course
Session Description:
- The session is available through e.Learning delivery and may be
available through alternative or blended delivery methods upon
request. This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the
assessment of lesson planning materials and techniques.
Instructional Strategies
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to assess
strategies and instructional delivery methodologies and
techniques.
Objectives:
- Assess learning audience for effective delivery strategies
- Apply instructional delivery strategies
- Match learning outcomes and objectives with instructional
techniques
- Apply applicable instructional strategies and techniques
Session Description:
- The session is delivered within a classroom setting and may be
available through eLearn or blended delivery methods upon request.
This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the assessment
of a case study presentation.
- This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the
analysis of case study/simulation presentation of classroom based
instructional strategies and techniques
Applying Instructional Technologies
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able
demonstrate the effective use and application of three
instructional technologies.
Objectives:
- Utilize blended learning instructional strategies and media
within the classroom
- Demonstrate Video Conferencing instructional effectiveness
- Discuss the use of Learning Management System (LMS) technology:
- Discuss issues related to LMS with particular reference to
Enform's Moodle implementation
- Identify parts of the Moodle environment including screen
terminology, navigation bars, breadcrumbs, control panel and course
menu
- Apply appropriate tools to an Enform Moodle course
- Discuss basic facilitation skills required for a mediated
Moodle course delivery example
- Discuss basic homepage design and organization techniques for
easy navigation
Session Description:

request. This course is four (4) hours in length and requires a
demonstration of skills.
Note: Instructors that have
completed the Enform Video Conferencing session may apply for
credit.
Classroom Management
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to
describe effective classroom management theory and technique.
Objectives:
- Identify effective classroom management techniques
- Assess effective student guidelines/rules
- Describe conflict styles:
- Competing
- Accommodating
- Avoiding
- Compromising/Sharing
- Collaborating
- Assess the motivating factors that contribute to conflict in
the classroom
- Identify effective conflict management solutions applicable to
an adult teaching and learning environment

available through e.Learn or blended delivery methods upon request.
This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the assessment
of a case study presentation.
Note: Instructors that have completed the
Enform Video Conferencing session may apply for credit.
Making Training More Effective
Learning Units: 3 (Three)
Outcome: The participant will be able to
effectively manage the preparation, presentation, and application
of classroom training materials.
Objectives:
- Adapt training materials
- Prepare training materials
- Deliver training materials
Session Description:
- The session is available through online delivery. Course is six
(6) hours in length and requires the assessment of a case study
addressing materials adaptation, preparation, and delivery.
Note: This session is mandatory
for all Grandfathered instructors and is required for completion of
the Instructional Skills Workshop. This course will have to be
completed prior to January 1, 2011, to maintain your standing
within the CID Program.
Assessment Methodologies (Evaluation)
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to apply
assessment strategies within the teaching learning environment.
Objectives:
- Apply formative and summative evaluation methodologies to the
delivery of course learning materials
- Identify processes for planning, implementing, and analyzing
assessment of student learning
- Apply evaluation analysis data to assist in the enhancement and
effectiveness of course learning materials
Session Description:

request. This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the
assessment of a case study presentation.
PowerPoint Presentation Creation
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to apply
presentation and design specifications in the development of a
PowerPoint presentation.
Objectives:
- Identify all the parts of the PowerPoint window
- Create a presentation using the Wizard
- Edit and produce presentation content
- Create a "blank presentation"
- Apply animation and transition effects to a presentation
- Create a presentation using the Enform "Design Template
Specifications"
- Create a presentation incorporating media components
(animations, audio and video)
Session Description:
- The session is available through e.Learning delivery and may be
available through alternative or blended delivery methods upon
request. This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the
analysis and assessment of PowerPoint presentations.
Developmental Audit
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will deliver a
traditional classroom-based" presentation for assessment for the
purpose of identifying strengths and weaknesses in presentational
competency.
Objectives:
- Implement instructional strategies within classroom
presentation based upon content of the participant's choice
- Deliver content in each of the affective, cognitive, and
psychomotor domains
- Identify a feedback heuristic (evaluation model) to direct the
auditor in the assessment of his/her instructional
competencies
Session Description:
- The instructor will present an instructional example to a group
of industry students (7- 20). The instructional example may be a
scheduled class or (upon advanced notice) a content-specific
workshop environment
- The topics chosen for the lesson must be within the
individual's current area of expertise and constitute a
complete/entire lesson (complete outcome)
- Feedback on teaching competency will be provided by the auditor
based upon the practipant's heuristic model as well as the Enform
instructor audit protocol
- The auditor will provide a detailed assessment of the
instructor's areas of strengths and weaknesses and provide a
developmental plan with which to assist the participant.
Instructional Methods & Presentation
Skills
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to
evaluate effective presentation styles and identify the style that
is appropriate for each course type.
Objectives:
- Develop a self-assessment tool to help improve their
instructional performance
- Demonstrate essential presentation principles
- Apply tools for effective speaking
Session Description:
- The session is delivered within a classroom setting and may be
available through e.Learn or blended delivery methods upon request.
This course is four (4) hours in length and requires the assessment
of a case study presentation.
Enform Training Conference Attendance
Learning Units: 2 (Two) Maximum
Outcome: The participant will attend various
instructional or workshop sessions presented at the Annual Enform
Training Conference. Any of the following will qualify for Learning
Unit redemption.
Objectives:
- Participate in conference sessions -1 (One) Learning Unit
- Deliver a workshop session - 1 (One) Learning Unit
- Present an academic paper -1 (One) Learning Unit
Note: Conference attendance is NOT mandatory.
Attendace will provide to maximum of two (2) Learning Units based
upon participation
Additionally, Workshop sessions will be provided at NO
ADDITIONAL cost to workshop attendees: Planned sessions
include:

Note: Certificates of Attendance
will be required to receive credit(s) for the program.
Learning Disabilities/Cultural/Language
Considerations
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will be able to manage
student learning challenges related to culture, language, and/or
learning disabilities.
Objectives:
- Identify typical learning disabilities
- Describe the ramifications of learning disabilities on student
performance
- Address language (reading and writing) performance
requirements
- Address any learning barriers associated with both the student
and the learning environment
Session Description:
- The session is available through e.Learning delivery and may be
available through alternative or blended delivery methods upon
request. This course is a four (4) hours in length and requires the
analysis and assessment of a case study presentation.
Practicum - Assessment (Mandatory for Certification)
Learning Units: 2 (Two)
Outcome: The participant will deliver a minimum
of three (3) 15-minute instructional units within a classroom
setting. Presentation must demonstrate key instructional components
following theory and practice outlined in the CID course
materials.
Objectives:
- Develop a lesson plan based upon content of the participant's
choice
- Deliver content in each of the affective, cognitive, and
psychomotor domains
- Provide feedback to fellow students regarding their
presentations
- Develop a personal development self assessment instrument
Session Description:
- Option One: Small Group presentation. A group
of seven (7) - ten (10) instructor students will participate in a
practical teaching session. The group will be led by an experienced
instructor from the CID team. Each participant will deliver three
15-minute lessons to a small group, following the theory and
practice outlined in the CID modules. Group members and the group
leader will provide constructive feedback to the presenter.
- Option Two: Classroom presentation. Within a
standard classroom course, the candidate will deliver and be
evaluated on a minimum of three (3) 15-minute instructional units.
The Practicum Assessment will be conducted over a morning and
afternoon session and will include data from the student population
and the program manager. Presentations must demonstrate key
instructional components following theory and practice outlined in
the CID course materials.
- NOTE: Of the three (3) lessons presented, one (1) lesson should
be selected from each of the Affective, Cognitive, and Psychomotor
domains and must follow the prescribed ROPES lesson plan
format.
