Enform and OSSA reinitiate discussions to merge into one safety organization
May 17, 2017
In September 2015, the Boards of Directors of Enform Canada and the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) jointly announced an agreement in principle to merge into one safety organization. The closing of the agreement was expected towards year-end 2016. However, late in 2016, both organizations agreed to postpone plans to merge due to industry market conditions.
Early in 2017, discussions were reinitiated between the two organizations with a new target to merge into one safety organization by the end of September 2017, upon the approval of their respective Boards of Directors.
Enform represents Canada’s upstream oil and gas industry, supporting and promoting the highest safety standards through its training, certifications, services and resources. OSSA represents companies and their stakeholders operating in Canada’s oil sands sector, similarly supporting and promoting strategies, safety standards, training and tools regionally.
Bringing together these two associations will create one industry safety organization to accelerate safety performance improvement across the industry, minimize duplication, improve operational efficiencies and reduce confusion among employers and workers regarding safety standards and training.
About OSSA The Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) is a non-profit organization made up of representatives from Canadian Natural Resources, Shell Canada, Suncor Energy and Syncrude Canada, as well as volunteer members from labour providers, unions, area contractors and learning providers. OSSA's objective is to bring together regional stakeholders to identify, develop and implement strategies and tools for the purpose of creating an incident free workforce.
Enform supports and promotes the highest safety standards in Canada’s upstream oil and gas industry through innovative training, certifications, services and resources. We work with our clients and partners to ensure that everyone goes home safely every day.
