Onsite Audit Review (OSAR) Project - Alberta

Please be advised that Alberta Partnerships in Injury Reduction (Partnerships) will be launching the Onsite Audit Review (OSAR) project starting in the spring of 2010.

As a Certifying Partner, Enform conducts detailed quality assurance reviews of all Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit reports. These reviews are useful at identifying quality issues within the audit report; however, they may not effectively identify all potential issues with the auditor's work.

OSAR is an independent evaluation of the work of certified auditors who conduct audits for employers seeking a COR.  The on-site review will focus on key aspects of the auditor's evaluation and is not intended to be a complete re-audit of the employer's health and safety management system. On-site reviewers will visit selected employer work sites and gather information. This information will then be compared to the findings in the original auditor's report, which will be provided by Enform. OSAR results will not jeopardize an employer's COR status.

Employers who have recently undergone a certification or re-certification COR audit may be asked by Partnerships to participate in the OSAR process. The OSAR process will be scheduled by appointment and is designed to be completed in one day to minimize disruption to the employer's business.

For more information on the OSAR project, please review the Questions & Answers document prepared by Alberta Partnerships.

OSAR - British Columbia

Please be advised that as part of our obligation as a Certifying Partner under the British Columbia (BC) Certificate of Recognition (COR) Standards and Guidelines, Enform will be conducting the OSAR process in BC beginning in November, 2010.

As indicated in the May communication, the BC OSAR process will be similar to that of Alberta, except that it will be administered by Enform as part of our obligations as a Certifying Partner in BC. OSAR reviewers will visit selected employer work sites and gather information.  This information will then be compared to the findings in the original auditor's report.

The OSAR will focus only on key aspects of the auditor's evaluation. It is not intended to be a complete re-audit of the employer's health and safety management system.

For more information on OSAR, please review this Questions & Answers document.
