Enform H2S Alive® Certified Instructor

Application Process

Become an Enform H2S Alive® Certified Instructor:
  1. Complete and submit an H2S Alive® Certified Instructor application including a resume, reference names and contact information (mandatory). Please ensure your hours of experience is detailed on your resume. Applications must be received by Enform a minimum of sixty days prior to the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW).
  2. Once Enform approves your application, you must successfully complete a pre-entrance exam, and achieve a minimum 90% pass mark. The pre-entrance exam is scheduled by Enform's Health and Safety Training department at least four weeks prior to the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW).
  3. Successfully complete practical skills evaluation and achieve a minimum 90% pass mark. The evaluation includes demonstration of rescue techniques, appropriate use of self- contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), supplied air breathing apparatus (SABA) and H2S detection equipment. The skills evaluation is scheduled by Enform’s - Health and Safety Training Department at least three weeks prior to the Instructional Skills Workshop.
  4. Successfully complete Enform’s four  day Instructional Skills Workshop.
  5. Sign the Enform Code of Ethics.
  6. Attend an observation of H2S Alive® course and a follow-up evaluation meeting.
  7. Successfully complete at least two co-teaches of H2S Alive® course.
  8. Successfully complete an accreditation evaluation. The cost of this evaluation shall be the responsibility of the instructor being evaluated.
  9.  Sign an Enform Certified Instructor agreement.
  10. Receive Enform’s H2S Alive® Certified Instructor certification.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are the minimum required to be allowed entry into the Enform H2S Alive® Certified Instructor training program

  1. A minimum of three years (6000 hours) of field-based “hands on” work experience in H2S environment, directly related to the oil and gas industry within the last ten (10) years, and experience in dealing with hazardous environments and knowledge of rescue techniques.

    Related experience includes: drilling, well service, field production, plant processing or transportation.

    Alternatively: Two years full time experience in one of the following industries plus at least one year “hands on” full time work experience in an H2S oilfield environment as outlined in the regular method for selection.
    • Hazardous chemical – plant processing, handling, hauling, monitoring
    • Confined space – entry, monitoring, rescue
    • Emergency response drills
    • Safety personnel with 3 years on-site (sour) experience
  2. Names and contact information of at least two references that can verify your H2S experience. Applications will only be considered upon verification of your work experience by the supplied references. A fillable PDF is provided for your convenience. 
  3. Experience with weekly use of, and a good working knowledge of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus (SABA).
  4. Experience with weekly use of, and a good working knowledge of H2S detection equipment (detector tube, personal, portable and fixed monitors). A fillable PDF is provided for your convenience. 
  5. Current, valid Standard First Aid certificate, including CPR certification (or equivalent).
  6. Current, valid H2S Alive® certificate within the last 6 months, with a 90% pass mark.
  7. Completion of manufacturer equipment training for SCBA equipment from the approved list below:

    Please note – Gas detection technology and sensor theory course is mandatory. Please complete all courses appropriate to the gas monitors you use.

Maintenance of Certification

Maintaining Enform H2S Alive® Instructor Certification

  1. A minimum of two H2S Alive® courses must be taught per year to maintain instructor certification.
  2. Current, valid First Aid certification must be maintained by H2S Alive® instructors.
  3. H2S Alive® Certified Instructors must be clean-shaven where breathing apparatus makes contact with the face. They must remain clean shaven when instructing the H2S Alive® course.
Enform Oilfield Driver Program - Certified Instructor

Application Process

Become an Enform Certified Oilfield Driver Program Instructor:

  1. Complete and submit an Enform Certified Oilfield Driver Program Instructor Application Form and include resume, reference names and contact information (mandatory).

    Applications must include a current (within 7 days) copy of your provincial five year Commercial Driving Record (abstract).

    An applicant that has any suspensions, violations or convictions within the three years prior to submission of the application will have their application reviewed by the Oilfield Driver Certification Committee (ODCC). In such instances, it is recommended applicants submit a 10 year driving record.

  2. Successfully complete the applicable Oilfield Driver course with a minimum grade of 90%. Certificate must be current.
  3. Once Enform approves your application, you must successfully complete a pre-entrance exam and achieve a minimum grade of 90%. The pre-entrance exam is scheduled by Enform's Health and Safety Training department at least four weeks prior to the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW). Study references are contained in Appendix A of this document.
    • Upon failure of the pre-entrance examination, applicants are allowed one re-write after a 30 day waiting period.
    • A second failure requires a waiting period of one year and a new application.
  4. Successfully complete Enform’s four day Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW).
  5. Sign the Enform Code of Ethics.
  6. Attend an observation of the applicable oilfield driver course and a follow-up meeting.
  7. Successfully complete at least two co-teaches of the applicable Oilfield Driver course.
  8. Successfully complete an accreditation evaluation. The cost of this audit shall be the responsibility of the instructor being evaluated.
  9. Sign the Enform Instructor Agreement.
  10. Receive applicable Enform Oilfield Driver Instructor Certification.

Provincial Instructor Licensing Information

  • Alberta (AB) licensed applicants should read the AB Driver Training and Driver Examination Regulation AR 316/2002 (http://www.transportation.alberta.ca/525.htm) prior to application. Details on how to obtain the AB Driving Instructor License (ADIL) from AB Transportation will be explained during the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW).
  • British Columbia (B.C.) licensed applicants should read Division 27 of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations (http://www.bclaws.ca/) and the ICBC instructor licensing requirements (http://www.bclaws.ca/Recon/document/ID/freeside/26_58_08) prior to application.

    Driver training offered as open enrolment to the public may require instructors (and providers) to be licensed through ICBC.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are the minimum required to be allowed entry into the Enform Oilfield Driver Certified Instructor training program.

  1. Oilfield Driver Awareness (ODA)
    • A minimum of three years verified oilfield off-highway driving experience (light or heavy vehicles).
    • Must have an AB Class 5 (or equivalent) Operator’s License which meets the attached violation matrix.
  2. Oilfield Hauler Course (OHC)
    • A minimum of three years verified oilfield off-highway driving experience of vehicles greater than 15,000kg GVW.
    • Must have an AB Class 1, 2 or 3 (or equivalent) Operator’s License with airbrake endorsement which meets the attached violation matrix.
    • Must be a certified Enform ODA instructor.
  3. Oilfield Swamper Course (OSC)
    • A minimum of two years verified oilfield rig moving, modular moving, hoisting or heavy-lift experience.
    • Must have an AB Class 5 (or equivalent) Operator’s License which meets the attached violation matrix.
  4. Oilfield Driving Experience
    • Oilfield driving experience includes driving a significant amount of time in an off-highway (not paved) environment on multiple types of roads typical of the upstream oil and gas industry where upstream oil and gas activities such as exploration, production and servicing occur.
    • While combined equivalent driving experience may be considered by the ODCC, oilfield experience does not include time as a driver trainer where the majority of time driving is on paved roads, midstream or downstream activities, agricultural driving, forestry operations, long-haul driving, mining operations or regulatory enforcement operations.

Application

Use the details above to confirm achievement of the required prerequisites, provide the appropriate collateral and then complete the Enform Certified Oilfield Driver Program Instructor Application Form and submit via email all documentation to training@enform.ca

Maintenance of Certification

  1. A minimum of one course must be taught per calendar year to maintain Instructor certification.
  2. In the 4th quarter of each calendar year submit a copy of the commercial drivers’ abstract and operator’s license to training@enform.ca. The abstract cannot be more than 10 days old upon submission.
  3. Submit a copy of the Provincial Driver Instructor License (as applicable by jurisdiction), in the fourth quarter of each calendar year. Instructors are obligated to notify Enform immediately should their instructor license be revoked or suspended.
  4. Enform Certified Instructors must have a current Enform Instructor Agreement, licenses and code of ethics acknowledgements.
